DU CANE KUNZEA® OIL profile

The North East Tasmanian Du Cane Kunzea Farm is located approximately 2 kilometres south from the Waterhouse Road, some 35 kilometres east of Bridport, and inland from the small seaside holiday village of Tomahawk.

Situated on the western side of the Tomahawk River and the northern end of the White Rock Tier, the Estate has spectacular views of the Waterhouse andTomahawk areas and the Bass Strait Islands.

The property is close to the 41st parallel, in a 33 inch (820 mm) rainfall, and enjoys clean air and water.  The climate is cool temperate.

BRIEF PROPERTY HISTORY

The 400 hectare property was purchased in 1986, as a partly developed bush block.

The property was cleaned up and developed as funds permitted to initially run sheep.

With the collapse of wool prices other avenues ofincome were investigated.  Some of the timber remaining on the property was processed into firewood and sold locally and in Launceston.

Other flora growing in the bush was investigated and avery hardy native plant was found to carry oil in a large enough volume to be harvestable.

Several years of research, trialling, and testing have been undertaken.

We have for sale an oil with some very interesting properties.

DU CANE KUNZEA® OIL

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Please refer to the attached letters from Dr. N. Davies of the University of Tasmania, in the testimonials.

PRODUCTION

The shrub (Kunzea ambigua) grows naturally.  Weed control is with sheep which will not eat the Kunzea.

No artificial fertilisers have been applied to the areas where Kunzea grows in recent years, although Potash may need to be used in future.

The bushes do not appear to have any natural predators except white scale insect which is easily controlled with white oil.

The bushes are topped mechanically and the green matter put through a steam distillation process to extract the oil.

For massage therapy, DU CANE KUNZEA® OIL may be diluted with an appropriate vegetable carrier oil down to 1:1,000 but higher concentrations do show greater efficacy.
